A scary day

At our lovely dog park this evening, an unneutered pit bull attacked me. Neither pits nor un-fixed dogs are allowed in our park. Jack had the pit pinned down by his throat in 10 seconds flat, and only let him up when I gave the go-ahead. I do a fair amount of complaining about him, but I do love the boy.

Jack got a "special occasions only" fresh butcher bone to enjoy on the balcony, pausing occasionally to give me a big, sloppy grin. Coco had to get a bone, too, despite the fact that she was at home and snuggled under a warm blanket at the time - she does not do well at dog parks in cold weather.

(I'm fine. Nothing broke the skin. Jack is fine, too.)

Tip/trick/lesson of the day: If you have a pit, be a responsible dog owner and enjoy lots of leashed runs, walks, and hikes. Stay out of dog parks where your "fur child" could stir up trouble with the more social dogs. I am not anti-pit, but pits do have naturally hot tempers and aggressive tendencies; the responsible pit owner recognizes this.

Also, free sample of Lactaid, free sample of peanut butter, and free coffee.
